The Lafage Estate is expanded over a little more than 200 hectares, including stretches of heath and pine, 138 hectares of which is cultivated for wine-making. The dwelling of the manor is an ancient stone-built farmhouse located next to the vineyard-fringed road between Perpignan, the former capital of the Kings of Majorca, and the Mediterranean seashore. Hugging the 80 hectares of marine-land, where the now archaeological site of Villarnau was once a mediaeval village, the vineyards of the Lafage Estate dominate the surrounding grapevine. It provides spectacular views of the Albères, an extension of the Pyrenees mountain range, which forms a natural border between France and Spain before plunging into the blue of the Mediterranean. At the entrance of the Estate, a boutique offers wine-tasting and colourful commentaries to wine-lovers passing by. – Description from Nerevar

  • Domaine Lafage Grand Cuvee Rose 2016

The wine is made from a combination of Grenache, Grenache Gris, and Mourvedre grapes, hand-harvested from sixty-five to eighty year-old vines. Gentle direct press prevents bitterness. Even the taille (a type of juice produced during the pressing process that contains more tannin than sugar or acidity) is discarded. What we have here is bottle th... Read More

  • Have you been drowning in rosé? For most of us it’s a summertime ... premier example is the 2016 Domaine Lafage Grand Cuvee rosé from AOC Cotes du Roussillon, my favorite bottle of the summer. Jean-Marc and Eliane Lafage farm 160 hectares of vines located just south of the capital of French Catalonia, Perpignan. That’s a stone’s throw from the... Read More

  • Domaine Lafage Centenaire 2015

This is a fat, juicy, creamy southern wine from Roussillon; with the scent of fresh pears and freshly fallen snow. On the palate, you get a panoply of sweet, spicy white fruit - like Bartlett pears and white pepper - with a touch of sweet cream. This rich vintage has produced a great wine with some aging potential (2-3 years) but no need to wai... Read More

  • Domaine Lafage Cote d'Est 2015

This wine - apparently produced by a favourite Roussillon house of Parker - does make for a wonderful, affordable wine. It has a nose of those over-perfumed kind of flowers like Wisteria or Clematis - perhaps Honeysuckle - but this is inviting (even perfect) for diurnal drinking patterns. The Rousanne component (at least 30%) needs time, but t... Read More

  • Domaine Lafage Tessellae Old Vines Côtes du Roussillon 2013

The "Tessellae" Old Vines offering is bigger than it's price point by 3-4 times. A superb CdR that shows red and blueberry fruits, light gamy notes, spice, pepper, floral accents. Elegant any juicy with finishing acidity and minerality, this pours really real. Drink now - Paul 91 points Read More

  • Domaine Lafage 'Centenaire' Blanc 2014

The 2014 edition of Centenaire Blanc from Domaine Lafage of Roussillon opens with a nice tisane (camomile) and gooseberry nose, but falters somewhat on entry with less balancing sweetness in the core than in the previous vintage; there are more medicinal notes (astringency) coupled with unripe gooseberry. It seems a wee bit thin and needs a doll... Read More
