Fabre Montmayou is a winery founded by Hervé Joyeaux Fabre in the 1990s in Lujan de Cuyo, Argentina. Having grown up around the wine business in Bordeaux, France he came to Mendoza, searching for new winemaking possibilities. He purchased a historic Malbec vineyard, planted in 1908, and cultivated wine from the old vines. His visionary ideas have succeeded in creating excellent wines with concentrated, character. From there, other old vine vineyards were purchased to continue this pursuit for wines with unique personality. Fabre Montmayou produces Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and Torrontes in young and reserva styles.

Initially very tight, needed about 2-3 hours to really open. Perhaps best after a nigt out in the decanter.Very substantial on the tongoue; velvety. Big, concentrated fruit flavors, jammy.Once opened, very rewarding and drinkable. Could be excellent in another 2-3 years. Read More

  • Fabre Montmayou Malbec Phebus 2006

Well balanced, medium bodied Malbec. Violet on the nose. Big wine with some jammy black currant and plum flavors then a huge burst of peppery, spicy richness. There are some moments where the taste is slightly resonant of cough syrup, but the finish is smooth, lasts for a good 45s-1min.Great value for the price of around $7-9. Read More

  • I'm hoping the Snooth community can help me out with some recommendations. I've have had a couple Argentinian Malbec and Malbec blend wines in the last couple of months that I really enjoyed and I was hoping that I could get some recommendations to expand what I've tried. I'm looking up to $50 but realistically more in the $15 to $30 range. L... Read More
