  • Firefly Ridge Chardonnay 2011, Barcode Label 2113051501. Just finished a bottle of your Chardonnay - unfortunately, there were little winged bugs in it. So every glass I poured I had to strain first - I figured the dead bugs were pickled, they would hurt if I strained them. I had a bottle prior without any problem.

Pungent honeysuckle nose and nice amount of extract. Lacks balancing acid but I would be surprised if any Muscat from CA has adequate acid. Very enjoyable but not really complex. My rating 88. Read More

  • Feeling REALLY disappointed since I found out Firefly Ridge is a Safeway private label wine. So, then why do the those bright yellow Safeway price tags bleat $15.49 on sale for $5.49? Is this legal??

  • Am trying the 2010 Firefly Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon for the first time. Got it from Safeway on a whim, as it was a ten dollar discount ($5.99). First sniff? Interesting berries and quite fruity at that. First swirl? Flat. Very easy to drink, almost like a Cote du Rhone. Waited about fifteen minutes, ate something spicy and creamy — there's defin...

  • I cut my finger pretty badly while removing the outer seal on a bottle of 2010 Chardonay. Please watch out.

  • Maybe some of their other ones were dogs (reviewers seem to pan this producer). But I LIKE THIS WINE (2010 Red Flash Table Wine). I bought 1 bottle, looked for another, couldn't find it, then found them at - yes- Safeway- and - yup- even though I just got back from touring at Napa- I bought 4 more bottles. Cheap (I mean economical) at

  • Many bad reviews, but I like the 2010 Red Flash table wine. It reminds me of the red Italian table wine I drank in my youth in NY at a friend's house out of water glasses. I have been often disappointed in cheap (I mean economic) red wines that I pick up, so I just bought one bottle (yes snobs, at Safeway, I was shopping for food). But I like th...

  • Firefly Ridge Central Coast Merlot 2008

While I was expecting to be disappointed by this generic store-brand wine (Safeway) and certainly would have been had I paid full price for it, I was pleasantly surprised by it. The red coloring of the wine is excellent and the blackberry notes really come through on the nose but are practically absent on the palate. A lot of sugar keeps it fro... Read More

  • I thought the Firefly Ridge Merlot was great! Reg $14.99 discounted to $6.30 at Safeway. Was attracted to the label at first. Really enjoyed it. Light/ smooth plum & raspberry hints. Rose Laughlin, NV

A pleasing red colour, thinning substantially at the edges. Plums and blackberry on the nose - and something else which is eluding me. The same fruit on the palate, but less so. My first impression on drinking is that there's a lot of sugar and a fair amount of acid, but not as well balanced as it could be. A little spice on the finish, fading i... Read More

  • Just wanted to make a clarification on a review I just posted. My apologies to the gallery. My robust review was for the 2005 edition of the Firefly Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon. In my wine mind I understand that each vintage of wine can be so very different each year and yet so close in the qualities but inherently, not one is the same in charact...

Not sure about the rest of the crew here in the review section although, wino ... about to enjoy a bottle of Firefly Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon year 2005. Maybe it's just me, no, no, it was not me for sure so it had to be the wine, yes, it was the wine for sure because it had a flavor and body and aroma that screemed velvety, very smooth and suc... • Bought this in Santa Monica at Vons or Whole FOods for $5.99 (supposedly regularly price at $15)... It wasn't even worth the money paid. Almost as bad as the novelty $1.99 wine that Whold Foods has sold.
