Founded by Ted and Meri Gerber, Foris Winery and Vineyards is family-owned and family-managed. A graduate of Cal State Hayward in 1969, Ted studied political science and public administration. During his college years, he also developed a passion for making homemade wine. In 1971, Ted and Meri purchased hillside acreage in southern Oregon's remote Illinois Valley with the specific intention of growing grapes. Starting from scratch, they built a house, bought the land that is now Gerber Vineyards, and began planting grapes. – Description from JasminaDragoljevic

  • Foris Riesling Rogue Valley 2011

Classic Riesling on the nose with an initial touch of candle wax followed by gentle honey, baked apple, lime leaf, herb and stone aromas. Vibrant right from the get go, you get a sense of some sweetness here in the body on the tongue but this is acid driven from the first sip. Very fresh and pure in style with apple, pear with a somewhat savory... Read More

  • Foris Fly Over Red 2009

Merlot 46%,Cabernet Sav. 28%, Malbec 26%. JUICY. Great nose and nice finish. This is a fun wine (went great with a veggie and salami loaded homemade pizza). When I think Oregon, it's pinot of course (gris and noir). This shows me the state is not just a one-trick pony. This has hints of complexity ... certainly not the structure or depth ... Read More

  • Foris Pinot Noir Rogue Valley 2009

One of the best sub-$10 pinots I've found. Generally skip pinots at this price range but this is a happy exception. Big fruit, ripe, pleasant finish. Read More

  • Foris Gewürztraminer Rogue Valley 2009

Pronounced aromatics - very classically Gewurztraminer with sweet spices, roses, and a hint of grapefruit. Soft and full in the mouth, with fruit notes that echo the nose. Very tasty. Read More

  • Foris Pinot Noir Rogue Valley 2008

Was very pleased with this Pinot Noir, but I haven't drank much Pinot Noir so that's not saying much. Cherry and raspberry, and a loamy forest floor thing going on with the nose. Good sense of terroir and vintage climate coming from this one. Tasting it the fruit is counterbalanced well by the subtle oak and earthy forest flavors. Big fan. Read More

  • Foris Gewürztraminer Rogue Valley 2007

I think this is an amazing Gewürztraminer for the price, perfect for pairing with spicy Asian cuisine. Love the acidity, crispness, spiciness, and fruit. I picked it up for $12.99 + tax locally. Read More

  • Foris Pinot Noir Rogue Valley 2006

I'm a newb wine drinker, particularly to reds, but I've taken a liking to Pinot Noirs (I've only tasted 3!). I liked this one. It was aromatic, a definite scent of oak, and a buttery smoothness. There seemed to be a bit of a pepper to this finish, but it didn't last long. All in all a good pinot noir for the price. I would have it again. *Side n... Read More
