  • It is a good go-to. The CdR is unique though, and while there are copies all ... ... Solitude. There's a Kermit Lynch wine - Barroul, that is pretty good and their white is nice too. I guessed it blind as Roussanne/Marsanne and that's what it was but a good iteration of it. Dirt cheap and really nice was Cave les Couteaux du Rhone VV - I thin... Read More

  • One of the few real bargains left in France are found in the southern Rhone and Bouche du Rhône and fall under the appellation Cotes du Rhône and Cotes du Rhône-Villages.  These wines are delicious whether red or white, and are still affordable at good price to quality ratios.  Their copies in Australia, South Africa, Australia and North America... • Kermit Lynch Cotes du Rhone 2014

The wine is medium light bodied. Grenache nose. Red fruited on entry with good acidity and finishes very long with some strong but mostly resolved tannin. Nicely balanced. Kermit prefers stem inclusion and that is evident with this wine. It's very much like a pinot noir in body, interesting wine. Wish I had more. Read More

  • In the East Bay, esp my neck of the woods (North Oakland/Berkeley), it's an ... up there with Chez Panisse, Kermit Lynch, Acme Bread.  I find the places poorly laid out and overwhelming, and I think they don't get the quality or variety they used to, but the wife loves it, and sometimes there's just no other place you will be assured of getting... • OK, what's your favorite market in your area for buying good meats, dairy, produce, etc. when you want to prepare a proper meal, likely accompanied by wine? Or just for everyday living? And what do they provide that you value so?Last couple of times I was through San Fran I realized Bi-Rite in the Mission would be mine there. Very much appreciat... Read More

  • Okay, I still disagree.  We have a good selection of European wines here, ... for Burgundy and Bordeaux, Kermit Lynch for Rhones, Flatiron for Italian and Sherry, Wally's and Woodland Hills for many things... but all those would require leaving Napa and Sonoma.  The Portugese wine store in Fremont has a better selection of Portugese wines, esp... • MY FIRST VISIT TO BERN'S STEAKHOUSE - Tampa (4/8/2017)Like any true wine geek when I was informed of a trade show in Tampa my first thought was "I'm making reservations at Bern's." I have friends who live in Tampa about 3 min from the restaurant so we hooked up for a fun three top. Rachel came recommended as a Somm so I requested her in advance.... Read More

  • Basically agree with all comments. Kermit Lynch folks say this is cheap and I'll take their word for their knowledge of the circles they travel in, but $30 for a Gruner did make me want to ask others' experience with it, if any. Still, if it's as good as the guy says, I've paid that much for disappointing wines far too many times so it'd not nec... Read More

  • Kermit Lynch Cotes du Rhone 2014

Drank pop and pour. Classic grenache on the nose and fairly translucent in the glass. Medium weight and red fruited in the mouth with some acidity. Finishes with some pretty strong green tannins. Classic in style. We'll see what day two brings.Second day the wine fruit has settled a bit and the acidity has come forward. The green tannins remain.... Read More
