The Schatz family has been growing grapes in the Lodi Appellation since the 1950's.  They purchased a special vineyard where the winery is now located which is lined by a historic railroad spur where three packing shed were once located.  In the early 1900’s these packing sheds were common stops for locomotives to load the famous Lodi grapes and ship them to wineries and home winemakers throughout the nation.  Thus, the label Peltier Station emerged in honor of the local history and abounding railroads that helped build California.

Passion for growing grapes evolved into passion for creating great wines and many were crafted from the twelve varietals that are grown in their vineyards. The family’s Italian heritage also brought two unique wines that we share, Teroldego and Vermentino.

Farming “green” has always been a part of the Schatz mission and all of their vineyards are a part of the “Lodi Rules for Sustainable Wine Read more »

Highly mediocre Pinot from Lodi. Sour cherry, some metallic after taste and a bit of that old baseball card bubble gum flavor on the entry. There may be a good reason this was in the bargain bin. Read More

Sound petite syrah. Light floral and spice nose. Vanilla and pepper and berry linger nicely on the palate. Good food wine as it is less fruity than most p.syrahs. Read More

  • Peltier Station Petite Sirah 2005

Glad I found this wine and this varietal. My palate isn't as refined as I like yet; I'm still learning what it is to "taste" wine as well as enjoy it. Hopefully my descriptions will become more thoughtful and fleshed-out as time goes by. Read More
