Penfolds (Coonawarra)

Coonawarra,
Australia

The renown Penfolds winery produces wines (known as “Bins”) sourced from many parts of Australia, including a range from the Coonawarra region. The distinct red clay soils here, a.k.a. “terra rossa,” are known for yielding balanced fruit with vines that dig deep into the ground for moisture. The wines produced here consist of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, with smaller amounts of Chardonnay and Riesling, from vineyard blocks that were planted in the late 1960s and 70s.
