In 1976 together with son Paul, Bill came to MargaretRiver, purchased a property from Johnny Walker (a local legend) and set about the task of planting out a vineyard and building a winery. The first vines were planted in 1977 and first wines were made in 1981. In 1982 Redgate was put onto the wine map by taking out the prestigious Montgomery Trophy at the Adelaide Wine show for best Cabernet at show. From that point onwards Redgate, under the careful eye of Bill and Paul, has grown into one of Australia’s premium boutique wineries with a reputation that has spread around the world. • Redgate Shiraz Margaret River 2003

Smooth with medium tannins. Quite peppery, but filled with dark fruits. Read More

  • Redgate Rosé Blend Margaret River Rosé 2005

A very nice, meaty rose. Bone dry - as all Rose should be. But this one underwent a longer maceration (hence the deeper color), which gives it more body. Id suggest serving it with BBQ or something summery. Read More

  • Redgate Rosé Blend Margaret River Rosé 2005

Solid rosé (bearing in mind that I do not like Sweet Things), tastes of strawberries. It, still chilled, went quite well with dark chocolate towards the end of a day of American Le Mans at the race track. Read More

  • Redgate Rosé Blend Margaret River Rosé 2005

I'm seeing Red! The darkest Rose I've ever seen, doesn't try to play nice, pretty sour and pungent, almost pretending to be a Merlot. A nice weight, good for casual after-dinner swigs. Read More

  • Redgate Rosé Blend Margaret River Rosé 2005

A rose with a lot of white wine tendencies. If you close your eyes you can actually taste the watermelon! Yay! Read More

  • Redgate Rosé Blend Margaret River Rosé 2005

Incredibly light aromas of strawberries and cherries. I wouldn't be able to tell this apart from a white wine if I couldn't see the color, except for the slight finish of watermelon which I rarely find in a white wine. This wine goes a long way towards bucking the Rosé trend! Read More

  • Redgate Rosé Blend Margaret River Rosé 2005

I consider this a 'dark' rosé because it has a lot more flavor than most other rosé wines that I've tried. Which (in this case) is a good thing! I served it with pasta in a spicy tomato sauce. Read More
