San Martiño Winery & Vineyards opened its doors in the spring of 2004. We are a small family-owned winery specializing in handcrafted wines using modern techniques but with a traditional “soul” borne in the fertile lands of northwestern Spain. The village of San Martiño, (see picture below), located in the mountains of the Galician region, has been making traditional wines for hundreds of years. It was at the village of San Martiño that our love and knowledge of wine and wine making techniques started. Through years of watching and helping our family in the vineyard we came to appreciate the special relationship between people, their land and the food they grow. Our Texas winery was created by borrowing from the traditions of the San Martiño village and its people, the tenacity and resolution of our family and learned modern wine-making techniques. Our heritage is rich and although we are not Texas largest winery, we aim to be the best!. Here you can watch Read more »

  • We feel that if a geographic area has shown wine excellence throughout a long history, then even more sublime heights can be reached with the addition of a dose of passion and attention. Campania was the breadbasket of Ancient Rome. Fruits, nuts, grains, seafood, meats, olive oil – authors from Virgil to Pliny to Columella agreed that if those i... Read More

  • Hi everyone.  My wife Sandra and I have been into wine for the past few years and that's led to a few trips to Napa Valley and related areas in 2012 and 2013.  We enjoy all wines but reds are our favorites.  We hosted our first wine tasting party last night and it was a fun event - sixteen wine lovers trying different wines in a blind tasting.  ... • De Martino Carignan El Leon Maule Valley Chile 2009

My 5/8, the groups 6/8 A touch herbal and slightly oaky on the nose with spicy black cherry fruit and hints of candied herb aromas. Bright, lean and a bit simple in the mouth. This shows off subtly mineral tinged wild red cherry fruit and red currant fruit on the palate with hints of herbs on the palate and through the moderately long finish, ... Read More

  • De Martino Nuevomundo Reserva Estate Bottled 2007

Solid fruit. With Cab & Malbec, it's of French inspiration, but w/ a nice South American spice. Not super oaky. Acidity is on point. Maybe a little astringent. Organic grapes is a nice plus/selling point. Read More

  • De Martino Single Vineyard Carmenere Alto de Piedras Case of 6 Bottles 2010

A bit tight but showing compelling complexity with floral, tobacco, and green peppercorn spice aromas framing the core of blue plum and black currant fruit. There's noticeable dose of oak here, but it remains buffered by the fruit. Rich with fruit tannins, this really pops on entry with bright, pure boysenberry and plum fruit layered over toasty... • De Martino Cabernet Malbec Reserva Legado 2010

Nice color. Aroma is flowery and some sweet fruits. On the palate I get some vanilla along with muted oak and some spice. The tannins are soft. The malbec appears to soften the cabernet. This is a great blend. Read More

  • De Martino Estate Carménère 2011

On the nose there s a lot of red fruit with a hint of vanilla and a touch of pepper. On the palate there is some fruit (not a fruit bomb) a nice hint of vanilla and a slight taste of chocolate. A medium finish. A very interesting grape. Read More
