Viña Santa Rita fue fundada en 1880 por don Domingo Fernández Concha, destacado empresario y hombre público de la época, en las mismas tierras de Alto Jahuel donde hoy se ubican las principales instalaciones de la empresa. Su fundador introdujo finas cepas francesas en los privilegiados suelos del valle del Río Maipo, lo que sumado a la contratación de enólogos de esa misma nacionalidad, le permitió producir vinos con técnicas y resultados muy superiores a los obtenidos tradicionalmente en Chile. Desde fines del siglo pasado y hasta mediados de la década de 1970, la viña se desarrolló bajo la propiedad de la familia García Huidobro, encabezada por don Vicente García Huidobro, yerno de don Domingo Fernández Concha, quién continuó con el legado e ideales de su fundador.
