The Schild name has a long history in the Barossa dating back to 1952 when Ben Schild purchased the Three Springs Farm property in Rowland Flat and settled with his family. Ben transformed the land into a mixed farm with a focus on sustainable viticulture. Ben’s son Ed took over the property at the tender age of 16, after his sudden death in 1956. Through careful management and a keen eye for premium Barossa vineyards Ed has cemented himself as one of the largest independent premium grape growers in the region with over 400 acres under vine. Today second and third generation vigneron’s work side by side to solidify Schild Estate’s reputation, built on its commitment to translating the unique tapestry of its vineyards into wines that speak of honesty and drinkability. Schild Estate’s vineyards include some of the oldest in Australia including the famous Moorooroo vineyard near Jacob’s Creek, which was planted in 1847 by William and John Jacob. • Schild Estate Shiraz Barossa 2009

    Snoothrank:

Intense on the nose. I kept swirling and sniffing,. Intoxicating and draws you into the glass. Spicy, cherry, sage. Absolutely delightful. Will invest in several bottles. Just very nice by itself or paired with cheese that can stand up to the powerhouse Shiraz. Parm-Regg is great with this wonderful wine. Read More

  • Schild Estate Shiraz Barossa 2009

    Snoothrank:

Got this as a gift and had my doubts. This shiraz was mouth filling and had all the flavors that you read about but seldom get. It has it all including very gentle tannins. A very deep dark purple. The finish was both moderate and very satisfying. A super wine at this price point. Read More

  • Schild Estate Red Rhone Blend Barossa Valley Gms 2010

    Snoothrank:

Very dark purple. Quite a complex nose--can detect pepper and what seems to be oak. However, the back label seems to indicate that this wine was not oaked. Complex nose, meet complex palate. Waves of fruit--plums, table grapes--flow through the mouth. Distinct pepper note. Slight tannic dryness, but not really significant. Fairly smoothe o... Read More

  • Schild Estate Red Rhone Blend Barossa Valley Gms 2010

    Snoothrank:

Some floral tones and an interesting, blood-like metallic tone. Soil, spice, tobacco and toasted oak also on the nose. Nice texture with flavors of plum, cola, ginger, sassafrass, au jus, white pepper, spice all accenting red and purple fruit. 3/10/12 Read More
