The Schild name has a long history in the Barossa dating back to 1952 when Ben Schild purchased the Three Springs Farm property in Rowland Flat and settled with his family. Ben transformed the land into a mixed farm with a focus on sustainable viticulture. Ben’s son Ed took over the property at the tender age of 16, after his sudden death in 1956. Through careful management and a keen eye for premium Barossa vineyards Ed has cemented himself as one of the largest independent premium grape growers in the region with over 400 acres under vine. Today second and third generation vigneron’s work side by side to solidify Schild Estate’s reputation, built on its commitment to translating the unique tapestry of its vineyards into wines that speak of honesty and drinkability. Schild Estate’s vineyards include some of the oldest in Australia including the famous Moorooroo vineyard near Jacob’s Creek, which was planted in 1847 by William and John Jacob. • Schild Estate Shiraz Barossa Valley Sparkling 2008

The nose opens a bit thin at uncorking, with hints of rum and eggnog surrounding black fruit aromas. The palate contains strong flavors of tobacco and blackberry, with black cherry intermingling. Silky smooth and clean finish. This wine seems a bit overrated by Wine Spectator, and that may cost it some of its appeal as it will struggle to liv... Read More

  • Schild Estate Shiraz Barossa Valley Sparkling 2008

Beautiful, complex wine with great finish and mouth feel. Huge tobacco/cigar flavour, mixed with dark berry/plum palate. High alcohol but with decanting and lots of air, creates well balanced, heady drink. Great to drink now and will be good for many years. Would be lovely on it's own with a high quality cigar! Also a great value wine. Read More
